Back-to-School Crafts: Using Pink Ribbon with White Polka Dots

Posted by Olivia Sum on

Let’s make going back to school fun for everyone by having a crafts day with your kids to create their own school supplies and scrapbook for you to keep the memories of the coming school year. For this blog post we are going to create matching school supplies using the pink ribbon with white polka dots.

Using the pink and white polka dot ribbon, your children will be able to create their very own notebooks, folders, pencil cases and more. All the kids at school will be jealous of their unique and matching school supplies.

What you will need to create these school supplies:

  1. Either a glue gun or stapler
  2. Pink ribbon with white polka dots
  3. Scrapbook paper
  4. Clipart borders
  5. Clipart labels
  6. Glitter Pens or Coloured Pens

Make a Notebook Using Pink Ribbon with White Polka Dots

First of all, you will create the notebook by buying a plain notebook from the local supermarket. For this, you will need your chosen scrapbook paper and place it over the cover of the notebook. Next, fold down the edges to the back of the notebook cover and either staple in place or use the glue gun to stick down the edges. If you are using staples, you may want to choose a clipart border to cover the staples. You will then glue down the clipart label near the top of the notebook cover so you can write your child’s name on. Add a couple of pink and white polka dot ribbons on the front cover to give it a girly flare and use either glitter or coloured pens to write the name on the front.

Make a Folder Using Pink Ribbon with White Polka Dots

You will do something very similar with the folder as with the notebook, however you will also cover the back of the folder too. You are going to need more scrapbook paper and ribbons for the folder as you will be covering a lot more area. Start by placing the scrapbook paper over the front and back of the folder and folding down the edges as before.

Either use your glue gun or stapler to stick down the edges inside the cover of the folder. Use a clipart border to line the binding of the folder; it will add a really nice finishing touch. Glue down the clipart label near the top of the front cover of the folder to write your child’s name and maybe the name of the class too. The fun part then is to glue down your pink and white polka dot ribbons all over the folder… the kids will love this bit.

Make a Pencil Case Using Pink Ribbon with White Polka Dots

You can’t go to school without a pencil case of course so you definitely need to make a matching pink and white polka dot pencil case. You will need a plain pencil case for this project, preferably a light pink or white one as you will not be using scrapbook paper for this. Glue down the name clipart label and create a border with the pink and white polka dot ribbon. You can then use the ribbon to stick on places at the back of the pencil case and if there is room, more at the front.

School Scrapbook Using Pink Ribbon with White Polka Dots

This is for you more than the kids so you can keep memories of the school year. This is great if you want to cut snippets from school reports, photos taken from school trips out or from after school sports or clubs. You can cover your scrapbook with your chosen scrapbook paper and use the pink and white polka dot ribbon to use as a border and through the scrapbook pages themselves to carry the theme throughout the book. Make sure to add photos of the kids creating their school supplied to add to your matching scrapbook.
